The NMC Horizon Report > 2013 Higher Ed Edition is out!

With a small contribution of mine as a member of the advisory board, the NMC Horizon Report > 2013 Higher Ed is out! It is more focused on teaching and less on libraries than in the past years. I tried to promote some other subjects like e-publishing, open everything (access, resources, data etc.) or flexible glasses – but in the end there were some other technologies making the race:

This year’s NMC Horizon Report identifies massively open online courses (MOOCs) and tablet computing as technologies expected to enter mainstream use in the first horizon of one year or less. Games and gamification and learning analytics are seen in the second horizon of two to three years; 3D printing and wearable technology are seen emerging in the third horizon of four to five years.

These technologies will certainly be important in teaching and learning during the next years. But for libraries I see only low impact.
